is it a good idea to buy some oakley thumps for the tunes and take the penalty to make it through the day or just get the mental aspect of the race and go from there. . this is my first im distance. i've completed two halves but nothing of this caliber. . just the thought of this race makes me about want to puke. .ugh. . .22 days left. .

My experience is this day brings out a unique state of mind where time will pass faster than your training rides. Time is relative, right?
Honestly though, having others out there with you helps pass the time, especially if you make friends with your fellow competitors and volunteers while on the course.

I agree. I was out there forever but the time seemed to not matter. It actually passed rather quickly. There are so many spectators and competitors it really keeps you going.
