Funny, atc!
The 06' water debacle was an oversight on behalf of someone, that we hoped might be a little more diligent in thier duties.
We are, this year, putting a few more notification dates in the process, so that we do not have the problem again. The city is also in the process addressing the issue on a larger scale as well.
Thanks,
Dave |

I'm happy to say that as of this morning the lake appears to be at capacity. Although we have many months before race day, our rainy season is just beginning, therefore the outlook for an actual swim is positive. And yes the ramp is underwater and indeed a welcome sight! Rubber Duckies are once again optional. Yeah!!

Yeah on a fuller lake. Internet rumor has it that sharks are being added to speed up this years swim times. Can anyone confirm that for me?

While I can't confirm that sharks have been added to speed up a swimmer, I can confirm that with the additional run off from the various lakes in the area, Speckled Trout have taken over the waters at Lake Hefner. Therefore if you have a phobia regarding Speckled Trout, then good luck and God's speed!!

Are there rules about concealing a fly rod in your wetsuit pocket? May need some protein after the swim. Mmm..sushi.

Doesn't matter if there are sharks....just don't be the slowest swimmer because they'll pick off the slow ones first!!

iron07,
I am not sure of the water temp at Lake Hefner. The city begins supplying that data to us August 1.
However, at three recent tri's here in OK the water temps were each 74, 76 and 77 respectively.

Everyone bring a bag of ice when you come up for the race. Get that water temp down.

All,
Each of the last two years we have been wetsuit legal. Even in 05' when we had the 96 degree day we were at 76. In 06' at 72.
So we'll plan on the same holding true for this year, but you never know!

Although no way of knowing about it at the time it was posted, this post almost looks comical in retrospect. What a difference in just 7 months!
