That was AMAZING!!! The volunteers were awesome and as was mentioned in the awards brunch; some of the volunteers were actually 1/2 finishers who put their staff shirts on and kept working the race... How cool is that! Last year a few of us traveled from Amarillo and this year we showed up with around 10. We'll shoot for 20 or so next year. You make a race that is SO worth the drive. A sincere thanx especially to the blood-sweat-and-tears behind the repairs on Waterloo... that could've held the race back, but you guys tackled it beautifully. From the wet suit strippers, the volunteer who put my contact back in my eye at T1, the 6 people who helped at the bike turnaround (I felt like I was in NASCAR), the volunteer who opened my band-aid on the run turnaround for my blister, every aid station person with gatorade, water and coke in their hand, the ladies who sponged me down at the finish line and the medical tent who refilled my fluids... and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few hundred people... You ALL are so appreciated. God bless you all and thank you for an awesome experience! TriATX |

OMG!!! REDMAN was an INCREDIBLE first IM experience! I chose REDMAN as my first IM because it was close to home and the president of our local tri-club did the 1/2 last year and spoke highly of it. However, I had NO IDEA it would be this AWESOME!!! As a first timer, I arrive early to check it all out and get my 20 questions answered prior to race day. I was impressed with all the knowledge of the athletes at the practice swims and the Swim Director demo's his multi-tasking as he calms my fears, answers my questions, explains the course ALL while looking through his binoculars - checking on the other swimmers! SO COOL! On race day, REDMAN staff and volunteers made it all about THE ATHLETE! I have to agree with Bobby, at the aid stations you felt like a NASCAR driver. 4-5 volunteers surrounding you - spraying sunscreen, filling water bottles, getting you food, cheering you on and getting you outta there! HOW AWESOME!! It only got better on the run. Volunteers meeting you 10 yards from the station asking you what you need. My favorite: "GET THE WOMAN WHAT SHE WANTS!!" this kid yells the FOUR times I ran by. Absolutely AMAZING! To Mr. Thomas Hill and Mr. David Wood, to all your AMAZING staff and AWESOME volunteers, may I give you a special TriATX compliment....... YA'LL ROCK MY FACE OFF!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all who were part of this incredible race. From start to finish everyone who participated in any capacity of this Iron event can consider themselves a huge success. I want to personaly thank each and every volunteer who stuck it out and worked hard. You exhausted endless hours of energy and effort and I promise it didn't go un-noticed. For this I would like to thank you individualy but there a simply too many to name (100s). The athletes told me dozens and dozens of times how incredible the volunteers were. Many said without the volunteer support they could never have finished this race. Make no mistake it was each and every one of you who assisted these athletes in reaching their goals. And it was your efforts that will bring them back next year. And believe me they will return and with friends. Please take great pride in knowing that without your efforts, many of these athletes would have fallen short of their goal. You helped them reach their dream!! How cool is that?? Be proud of your participation in this event. You are second to none in the area of "Athlete Support". YOU ROCKKKK Maybe next year it will be the rest of us assisting you across that finish line!!! Think about it! Dream about it! Do it!!! God Bless and God's Speed! Keith, ARD & On-Site Logistics |
